The Geelong Quality Council is a regional group promoting
the message of Quality to the local community. Its membership is drawn from local
enterprises that are either involved in the Quality movement or are interested in the aims
of the group. |
| Vision |
"To advance a Quality culture which will enable Geelong and
Region to be universally competitive so individuals and organisations in the Community
prosper". |
| Profile |
The Geelong Quality Council (GQC) was formed in 1992 as a regional
group of the Total Quality Management Institute (TQMI) to promote quality in the Geelong
Region. Evan Sutton, Quality Manager of the former Shire of Corio, was the inaugural
chairman. In 1993, a number of organisations interested in quality, including TQMI, merged
to form the Australian Quality Council (AQC). This brought the Geelong Quality Council
under the AQC umbrella.
In recognition of a number of common objectives that the Geelong Quality Council
had with The City of Greater Geelong, and to improve its effectiveness in promoting
quality in the Geelong Region, the Geelong Quality Council resolved in April 1995 to come
under the auspices of The City of Greater Geelong via their Business Development Unit.
In July 2006, the Geelong Quality Council become an incorporated association.
The voluntary membership of the Geelong Quality Council is drawn from local
businesses, local government and educational bodies that are either involved in the
quality movement or are interested in the aims of the group. |
